Dear Sunshine,

You LOVE reading.  I mean you REALLY love reading.  We have been reading books to you every night since you were an itty bitty and I think you have come accustomed to that little tradition and I love that.  You have a million and 1 toys, but all day long I see you sitting with your nose in books.  You will bring books up to us to read, you point at things in the book and we tell you what they are and you repeat us, you read books by yourself all the time making up the words and sounds.  My favorite is when you are in the other room and I haven’t heard you make a noise in a minute and I walk in there to check on you and you are sitting on our bed reading a book; it is the cutest thing.  I’m not gonna lie, if you only want to read and read and never play with your toys I will not mind at all.  You can learn so much from books and I see that you already are learning that you have a love for books.  I love you my sweet sweet reading little girl.

Dear Sunny Rae,

Sometimes in life, bad things happen to good people.  Sometimes things happen that are not as we expected and not the way that they are at all planned to be.  Some things are really confusing and I know some things are very hard to understand.  You are the strongest little girl I know and you are doing so good with the situation that we have been thrown into.  Stay strong Sunny; I am trying my hardest to stay strong for you even though it is so hard and confusing right now.  You are doing so wonderful, you really are.  I know it’s hard and I know it’s different and I know it’s not what we want to happen but sometimes things just happen and that’s just the way it has to be.  Just please know that I love you more than anything in this whole entire world and that everything is going to be ok.  Everything will be ok little girl, I promise.

Dear Sunny Rae,

You are so smart!  I just wanted to let you know.  You can now do so so so many things.  You can clap, wave hello, and do bye-bye!  We may start teaching you baby sign language because I know you would catch on so fast.  You also don’t like puree foods very much so daddy rigged you up a bumbo tray so you can explore more when you eat and get less dog hair in your food when you throw it around.  You are so good with your hands.  Smartest baby award goes to you little girl.  I love you.

Dear Sunshine,

You LOVE pickles.  We gave you your first one the other day and you demolished it.  I will now get my burgers with pickles just so I can pick them off and give them to you. 

On another note, we are leaving to go to California tomorrow.  We are staying at mimis tonight so we can say bye to her before we leave.  We are very very excited to get back to the best coast and I hope that you will be just as excited when we get there.  I am anticipating the drive to be a very long and dreadful one, but hopefully I’ll be able to keep you entertained long enough.  This will be a new chapter in our lives little girl and I can’t wait to take this adventure with you.  I love you.

Dear Sunshine,

YOU HAVE A FUCKING TOOTH!!!  Sunny girl, you have your first tooth!  YOU HAVE YOUR FIRST TOOTH!  I am so extremely excited about this, you have no idea.  You can barely see it but I can feel it and can see it just a little bit.  Oh man!!!  Little girl, I’m so excited for you.  And you are taking it like a champ.  Good job pushing out your FIRST tooth little girl.  You rule!

Dear Sunny,

I think one of my favorite times of the day is right when you wake up from a nap.  Usually you fall asleep nursing and I let you stay asleep in my arms and I think you love that.  When you open your eyes you give me this huge smile and then just smush your head into my chest like you are trying to cuddle.  And always if I pick you up to cuddle you, you rest your head on my shoulder so nicely and cuddle so perfectly and so cute like.  You LOVE cuddles.  Another cute cuddle thing you do is when we are sleeping you put your arms and legs over me as to make sure that I don’t leave your side.  I love that you are so much of a cuddle bug and I am going to cherish every moment I can cuddling with you while you are still willing to cuddle back.
